January 13th, 2006

Friday the 13th! Augh! Well, we're having nothin' but good luck because we have some exciting shows coming up and a new CD in the works!

We're gonna start everything off with-- hold onto your hats-- an ACOUSTIC set on January 27th at The 5 Spot in Nashville. It took us some wranglin' to secure it, but we will be following Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets and frankly, we're just thrilled about it. Curt will be playing a quiet solo set and just so his management's feathers don't get ruffled we'll play after him in similar fashion. We are all big fans of the Meat Puppets and this is sure to be a show not to miss! Check out Curt's website (and his new CD 'Snow' )

Next up is a journey towards the east coast and back for mid-late February. We're hitting some great new towns for us this time around including Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh and my tiny little hometown of LaPorte, IN. Oh lordy, the farmers are gonna LOVE our racket! We're also playing CBGB's in NYC before they close that dump and make it into a Disney megastore or whatever. Check out the SHOWS page for the complete tour schedule!

We'll probably do a few shows in late March, but first we're gonna get our asses into Scott's new studio The Fry Pharmacy out in Hermitage, TN and start laying down some fresh new tunes into fresh hot wax. We have been playing a few of these songs on the road for a couple of months now and the tour setlist will most likely feature a good chunk of this material as well. Scream along with songs you've never heard before as we gear everything up for the brand new CD!

The new year is upon us and we're over the hump for the decade, gang. The Boogie Van just might be coming to your town, so flag it down before it steamrollers over you!

I ain't even really sweatin' yet,

It's that time of year again, everyone! What time is that, you ask? Holidays? Football playoffs? No, it's 'get shit done so we can record in the early part of next year' time! To that end, we are working up some new songs to be laid into hot wax hopefully by March. We will be moving over to Scott's brand new Fry Pharmacy Studio just outside of Nashville for the proceedings and we're excited to start rolling tape! In the meanwhile, Bob is writing some new guitar and mandolin books, Travis and I are playing and recording with One Sexy Bitch (our prog-rock trio with our friend Josh Pessar on guitar) and we even have a couple of gigs lined up with Porter Hall, TN (a cool country punk band with our friends Gary and Molly). Staying busy is keeping me warm!

Take a look at the SHOWS page and you'll see we are gearing up for some fun on New Year's Eve at the 5 Spot in East Nashville and we head to Huntsville in January. February's eastern run is shaping up quite nicely with some new towns like Boston and Philly being thrown into the mix this time around. More dates will be posted in the coming weeks so check back often! There's always a good time to be had over at our MySpace page: www.myspace.com/losersbeatwinners and we now have online distribution for our Spat Records CD through Interpunk, CD Baby, Tower Records and Best Buy, so don't be shy! Don't ya know that a Losers Beat Winners CD makes a great stocking stuffer? Ho ho ho! We also have a live DVD from the 2002 'STOCKAGE festival available for 10 bucks. I'll get the cover art posted on the MERCH page soon but send me a note if you are interested in seeing me sweat my ass off on camera and I can hook you up. It'll remind you of summer!

As the snow starts falling, be sure to look out for black ice on the roads, folks. Remember what happened to Cliff Burton and don't git squished!

There's egg in my nog, Markie P.

September 24, 2005

Okay, I'm watching a Rush DVD so I can't talk long! Yes, I am a drum dork. Now then! We have some gigs coming up in October, so check out the SHOWS page and join us! We're working on some new songs and breaking Travis in on some of the oldies, so get ready! You wanna see my new drums, right? Of course you do! The CD should be available at Tower Records on West End in Nashville by the time you read this too! Isn't it time you shared a fresh new copy with someone you love? Hmm? Yes? I thought so! Git you some! There's doin's a-doin' here in Loserland, so stay tuned for more adventures this fall! Oh yeah, keep your eyes open for a review of the CD in issue 57 of Big Takeover magazine, available in October! F yeah!

- So. It's pretty fucking crazy right now, ain't it? Floods. Dead people. Gas prices through th' goddamn roof. It pisses you off, huh? Me too. Because now I can't figure out how we can afford the gas to deliver the shitkickin' rock to your doorstep, America. Maybe we'll look at Europe. Or Japan. We'll be around a bit, but extensive touring will have to wait for just a while, y'know? Hey! Help us and all of your other favorite bands out and buy some CDs and shirts when we come through town. This will help us stay out there longer, so we can keep the machine greased and full of bullets, dammit. The more shows we get under our belts on tour, the tighter it gets. Then things get crazy and you realize why the devil created rock n' roll in the first place. Oh yeah, because it CRUSHES YOUR BONES AND ORGANS AND IT FEELS SO GOOD! Woo!

We had quite a good month in August with lots of fun shows in Nashvilletown and out east. Scott officially dubbed himself the George Martin of Losers Beat Winners and graciously helped us welcome Travis into the fold on bass. Fuck, we're happy to have both of these guys in our camp. Scott will work on our records in his studio and Travis will hold down th' goldurn lowend as we prepare for more roadwork and some new songs and wild adventures. He brings a unique perspective to this kind of loud rock and frankly, his gear sounds badass. Hell yeah!

Special thanks are in order to Travis' brother Kevin for helping us score our NYC gig and for the hospitality. We had a pretty good show at the Continental there (The Hideaway in Johnson City, TN the night before was probably technically a better performance though). Still, New York is freakin' fun and I can't wait to get back up there (maybe this winter sometime). Consider this a big HELLO to our New Yawk buddies! Have you ever noticed how many weird aromas there are all around you in New York City? I'm not saying they're all nasty smells, although some are. Some are pleasant. Y'know, like when you sense some kinda exotic food that is non-existent in Middle Tennesee or you get a whiff of random-hot-New-York-girl perfume. Mmmm, random-hot-New-York-girl perfume! Ha-cha-cha! Well anyway, just an observation.

Man, I love Washington D.C. It's just a cool town. The people there are very laidback and they really seem to dig music. That's cool. The Velvet Lounge cats treated us so nicely and the other bands were incredibly kind. Thanks, everyone! Your support made the whole trip worthwhile and it's that kind of energy that we continually aim to generate. Salud!

And so, onward. We'll get a song or two maybe from the DC show up on our site somewhere soon and maybe some pictures from New York too. We played last night in Nashville and man, it was fuckin' good. We re-introduced 'Something Is Gone' from the CD back into the set and it came off really well under Travis' hand so we'll work up some more old songs in the next few days and Bob also promises at least two new songs to put together right away as well. We're inching towards a new recording, folks! Busy times, but we're moving ahead and it's going really great. Booyah!

Drunk on power and Vince Neil Wine,

Hotter than hell, ain’t it? Well, shout it out loud! That durn ol’ CD I’ve been talking about forever is finally available on Spat! Records, truebelievers! Woo! You can order it online through www.spatrecords.com or just send 10 bucks to the address on the MERCH page link and I’ll get one out to you ASAP

Hey! Spat also has a listening booth at the Tower Records in Opry Mills (that’s Nashville, TN, for all of you playing at home). Stop by and take a listen to our sa-weet rockin’ and why not lend an ear to some of our label buddies while you’re at it? You can find releases from Wally Pleasant, dharmakaya and recent Geffen sign-ees The Pink Spiders, soon to be a household name if not a magically wholesome breakfast cereal. We’re very pleased to be working with all of these cats and keep an eye out for our friends in the mighty Christine to blow your fuckin’ skirts up soon too. Nashville rock is takin’ over and Spat! is leading the charg, punk!

We’re gearing up the Boogie Van for some shows next month, and so far we’ll be at the Springwater in Nashville on August 4th, the Creepy Crawl in St. Louis on August 13th and then we return to New York City at last with a show at the Continental in Manhattan on August 25th. We’re looking at booking some other dates around these so stay tuned to the SHOWS page or stop by our MySpace site for updates. S’alright? S’alright!

MARCH 2, 2005

Hey there! We're back for the attack, just like Dokken but without the power ballads! Check out the MEDIA page for some recent live photos from around Middle Tennessee. We took advantage of Scott being off the road for awhile to destroy the silence for some good friends and even some new enemies. Is there anything funnier than watching a lone fanboy hugging the stage and singing along to the girlish harmonies of a boy band with no discernible talent? Of course there is! Try convincing your bassplayer to not chuck a brick through the window of said boy band's RV! Ho ho! It's good times, kids! Woo!

So here's what we have going on next: the sound for the live DVD is mixed and ready to go. Bob is working on the cover art as we speak and we should have that puppy ready for sale soon. Have you ever been to rock n' roll heaven? Pack your bags, brutha! You're on the next flight out!

Scott will be on the road quite a bit over the next couple of months with The Tarbox Ramblers so we are taking it a bit easy, working on some studio mixing and some outside musical projects. We're planning a possible Midwestern tour around late May-early June though! Details to come as they form, naturally. Discover for yourself what all the cool kids already know about a Losers Beat Winners show: it's impossible to talk to girls over the racket!

Thanks to all of our buddies and chicas for coming out to see us play recently and for hooking up to us on MySpace. You can too! Visit us at www.myspace.com/losersbeatwinners and leave us a note! See ya!

It's like a rock n' roll damnation!

Battery!

FEBRUARY 5, 2005

Whoa! It's 2005! How the heck are ya? I hope you all made it safely through the holidays and the chaotic tsunami worlwide fuckover that hit the planet recently. Damn! Not to keep this message on a bummer, but I have to mention that I lost one of my best friends last week-- he was a college roommate actually, and let me tell you friends...cherish those close to you. And to my kind and generous departed friend Adam Kercheval: See Here How Everything Leads Up To This Day. And It's Just Like Any Other Day That's Ever Been. Sun Going Up And Then The Sun Going Down. It Shines Through My Window. Come Around, Come Around. Thanks for the good memories, man.

And now, to the rock.

Okay, so the big ol' fancy CD we spent so much time on (ha! Try a week!) is out to a buncha labels and the rejection notices are starting to trickle in! Woo! Eh, I never heard of those labels anyway, so we won't rend our garments in shame just yet. Heaven forfend! Let's just sit and relax a bit more. By the way, those of you who have heard it...thanks for the kind words. It's pretty loud, huh?

Meanwhile, we've been up to some rocking recently. The Evening of Loud in December proved to be just that...deafening. We joined up with our buddies in the Fall City Angels for another show in January that of course rocked many asses. We're gonna do a couple of shows in Tennessee in this month after Scott gets back from the latest Tarbox Ramblers tour next week. Check out the SHOWS page for details and join us in rock n' roll damnation!

Hey computer junkies! We're on MySpace now! We made the leap into the fray a couple of months ago and so far we've linked with a few of our buddies in some other Nashville bands and dudes like Mastodon from Atlanta. We have some good ol' fashioned loud rock fans just like you from all over checking us out too so it's turned out to be a pretty good way to gain some new connections as well as gawk at some of the most impossibly cute girls I've ever seen! I mean, jeezum crow! America, Losers Beat Winners thanks you. Come say howdy at: www.myspace.com/losersbeatwinners

As always, we're pretty damn busy with lots of other musical projects besides our beloved little trio here. The really good news for us recording-wise is Scott going into business with longtime Johnny Cash bass player Dave Roe. Scott is providing the studio gear and Dave is furnishing the building where they will create the kind of country music masterpieces you would no doubt expect from two guys who can dig the Low End Theory. We'll certainly do some Losers shit there too! Hold on tight, we're amping up a little East Nashville empire! Last month Scott and Bob engineered sessions for Gary and Molly of the fucking fantastic Nashville duo Porter Hall, TN with Dave Roe on bass and his son Jerry on drums. It's badass! The guys also recently produced a completely analog disk of hardcore punk for a brutal Nashville band called the Neon Deads. That one is coming out on vinyl only for all you purists out there! Seek it out!

And so we'll keep on plugging away. It seems like we'll probably get around to recording some new stuff soon, let's see where the early spring takes us. Computer and website difficulties have slowed down our DVD production work, dang it (sorry about the guestbook too! Try it now!). Things are full steam ahead these days though and the machine is humming! Let's all revel in the stew of modern disasters and truly F'd up political idiocy and channel that energy into something positive like, oh, how about furious and crushing and borderline out-of-control rock music? That's where my head is at right now and you know what? It's how I'm gonna make this place better.

Still ticking,

Mark P.

DECEMBER 11, 2004

Yo! Just a quick update before the holiday season kicks into full swing...first, we will be playing on New Year's Eve at The 5 Spot in Nashville with local hooligans The Fall City Angels, The Alcohol Stuntband and The Bubblegum Complex. Remember that scene in 'Warriors' when all of the gangs met up in the park and stood around lookin' cool? Brother, THAT'S how tough all these bands are gonna look in the same room together! Hmm, wait a minute. Didn't somebody get shot in that scene? Okay, new idea! It'll be like Star Wars, see? Only no stinking Ewoks or JarJar Binks and Leia has to wear the slave garb bikini the whole time. Natalie Portman will be in every scene and Snoop Dogg will play Lando's pimp uncle from Chocolate Cloud City. Uh, I seem to have lost track of my original premise here...ah yes! New Years! So yeah, come out and rock with us, funlovers. All of these bands are loud mofos too! Check the SHOWS page for info...

Hey, dig our new guestbook page too! Now you can leave us personal messages or recipes for the perfect chocolate chip cookie-- you know! Important shit! Follow the GUEST link at the left and deal your spiel, Jack.

We're continuing work on our live album with Josh Wilkins (he's doing the artwork as we speak). We are also mixing the sound for our live DVD from the summer of 2003. We may add some video trickery and some alternate camera angles in there too, so it's going to be a bit longer on that project, but we'll probably get a clip from that up on the site sometime soon. Meanwhile, keep your eyes open for a new live mp3 in the next few days (we're doing some mixing before we post it).

It's nice to be busy this time of year and we hope to expand our operations greatly in 2005. We're planning a trip to New York and the east coast for late February or thereabouts, so give us some ideas on cool places to play in your area and we'll see what we can work out. As for the CD: we're still shopping it around! Anybody wanna buy a band? We're reasonably odor-free, I swear.

It's Christmastime in Hollis, Queens!

OCTOBER 23, 2004

Hey hey mama! A quick update for some exciting news from Scott and the old-timey blues band he tours with, The Tarbox Ramblers. They have been handpicked by former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant to perform as his backing band for a Leadbelly tribute show sponsored by the Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland on November 6th! How cool is that?! We will unfortunately have to cancel our November 5th show at the Gateway Entertainment Complex, but this is a pretty good excuse, don't you think? We are completely thrilled for Scott and wish him good luck on the show.

In other news just briefly, we are having some copies of our new CD pressed to send out in promo packs for the record labels and working on some new tunes. Bob has been teaching several mandolin and guitar students and I joined a Bob Marley tribute band in addition to working with a singer/songwriter dude that recently moved to Nashville from San Francisco. Scott has been recording some projects at his studio and we've all been enjoying a new watering hole that recently opened in our neighborhood. Beer is good for you! Y'know speaking of Zeppelin, I usually drink Newcastle. If it was good enough for Bonzo, it's good enough for me! Until next time...*belch*

Does anybody remember laughter?

OCTOBER 18th, 2004

Hey! Hey! Hollerin' here in Nashville! Nice to see all of you again. I listened to N.W.A. today while I was at work and so naturally I'm in a good mood so, R.I.P. to Eazy E. and let's get to some news! Um...dogg.

We have our beloved road-weary bassman Scott back from 2 months on the road with The Tarbox Ramblers and Rosie Flores and we were so overcome with sheer rockitude that we went ahead and booked a couple o' shows here in Nashville for November 5th and 26th! The show on the 5th is at the new Gateway Entertainment Center and the show on the day after Thanksgiving will be at The 5 Spot. You can find links to both clubs on the SHOWS page. The 5 Spot show should be quite a good one: The Evening of Loud featuring Losers Beat Winners, The Fall City Angels and, Satan willing, the glorious Asschapel! Come down and be spared eternal salvation, brothers and sisters! We all know they throw better parties in Hell anyway, right? Let's just come right out and say what everyone is thinking, okay? Asschapel will bring the party, foo'!

Bob and I did a radio interview for 102.9 The Buzz in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and they played 2 songs off of the new CD and also 'March' from the Japanese comp. We had a great time on the show and we'd like to thank the very friendly Aljohn for inviting us to the station. And now, here it is kids: You can listen to 'Just A Regular Guy' from the new record on the MEDIA page! Sweet Lord, it has come to pass! Play it loud! I think you'll agree that The Blasting Room gang did a great job. ROAR! In other record news, we are in the process sending our brand spankin' shiny an' new CD to some labels in far away and exotic locations such as 'California' and 'Chicago' and looking for some nibbles to get help us get that sucker on the streets. We are feeling pretty confident that the hard work crammed into that thing will be apparent to some of these record company cats and we can soon be on the road and in your town, perhaps eating from your refrigerator or macking on your sister. I'm kidding-- your sister's friend is much hotter. ZING! Haha!

Oh, we love to kid here at Losers Lodge. But friends, one thing we do not joke about is delivering the finest eardrum-ravaging rock n' roll to you, the rock warrior. Gang, that is simply something we cannot and will not skimp on. That being said, who doesn't like a little country music mixed in with their rock now and again, eh? Am I right? Keep your eyes open for our live CD backing up Joshua Black Wilkins in the next couple of months. It'll put a little swing in yer step or at least make you want to get drunk and yell shit at people, either of which is pretty much a positive I'd say. We'll have copies of that up on the site too, most likely on the same page that features the lovely Japanese compilation 'Global Probing'! Ya like how I snuck that little advertisement in there? Clever! We're working on that live DVD that I promised a while back and writing some new songs now that we have Scott back in Nashville for a little while too. I have been doing some shows on the road with a country singer named Kenneth Brian and I'll be recording a live album with him at the Radio Cafe in Nashville on November 6th. Check out his website link on our LINKS page. I'm having a great time playing with him and he writes really good tunes. His stuff is about as far away from modern radio country as you can get, and thank god for it. Whoop-dee-yep!

Did I mention that Bob got a puppy a while back? He's about 5 months old now, some kinda black lab mutt mix. Bob says to tell ya he's getting big. Hey! They just sentenced the guy who stole Scott's upright bass and amps a while back to 15 years in the big house! Crazy, huh? See, you get all the good news here! Puppies, extended jail terms, the occasional jab at your sister, why...we're almost like family! Now everyone pile into the station wagon and we'll go get frosty milkshakes! Yay!

Let them eat rock,

MarkP.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2004

Damn, is it fall already? Howdy ho, friends and neighbors and welcome back to LBW Central Command. Looking back on our last installment, it appears as though I set some rather lofty goals for our little rock combo and damned if we didn't just accomplish a couple of 'em.

I vote for the big news first, what say ye? Okay people dig it: we're out in Japan! The RECODDS RECORDS compilation 'Global Probing' was released on August 31st and I just received our shipment of CDs courtesy of the mighty Shin. (Thanks man!). Well, I gotta tell ya, this thing is greet! The sleeve has a cool retro SST Records vibe and all the bands are great! Damn! Shin did a great job of choosing some good bands-- not an easy task when assembling a compilation album. There are bands from Japan, Argentina, and the U.S. on here and all of 'em are exciting and punchy. The sound quality on the entire CD is great too! Anyhow, you can view the full track listing at: www.geocities.jp/recodds_recs and you can find a copy of your very own on our MERCH page for a mere 5 dollars American. Oi! Zuch a bargain! While you're there, why not select a lovely LBW t-shirt or an EP collection of almost-nearly-let's-say-damn-close-to-classic Losers Beat Winners songsmithery? We're like some kinda crazy wizards or some shit, man! It'll freak you out! All the cool kids with lockers near yours will be humming it anyway, dude, so get you some!

Lemme think here...didn't we record an album a while back? Dang. Wait! Yes, we did and I remember it being rockin'. Well, we got the mastered disk back from Jason at The Blasting Room and it IS rockin'! IT'S HUGE, BABY! So here's the deal: we are gonna shop this sucker around to a bunch of labels and see if we can gets some bites. Let's just say we know some people who know some people, okay? Hold on tight, we're bringin' it and I assure you that even after such a long wait it will arrive all steamin' n' fresh like we just took it out of the oven, yo. I mean, the shit is HOT. We are grateful to the nice folks up at the studio there in Colorado and our man Jeff Hagedorn in California for helping us out on this project. The wait has been worth it, so give us just a little more time and we'll get this hot one waxed. Oh hey! I can't forget to mention that we saw our producer Bill Stevenson with his ferocious new band Only Crime on a concert stop in Nashville a few weeks ago. Check them out! They're friggin' loud!

Okay, let's see, more stuff-- ah yes! Bob and I finished tweaking the live recording we made backing Nashville roots country workdog Joshua Black Wilkins and we're considering options for releasing it. There is a chance that it may come out on Josh's label, Angryson Records, but if not, we will put it out ourselves and sell it here and at our shows. It sounds damn good! That was the first time all three of had performed as a backing band and we had no rehearsal or nothin'! Woo! Nothing like flying by the seat of your pants, am I right? Hmm? Yes! We're excited to get this thing out, so look for some news about it soon.

Our next project is to mix the sound for a DVD of our performance at 'STOCKAGE '03 last summer in Colorado, filmed by our buddy John Lowry (yo!). This'll be a warts n' all affair to some degree, but man, it looks REALLY good! Bob and I are going to attempt to match our own minidisc audio recording with the footage from John's camera and see what happens. Oh Technology, allow us to feed at thign swollen teet!

Where do we go from here? I dunno. Here's what's up: all of us have been busy as heck playing country music an' shit all summer. Scott has been gone on tour a BUNCH and Bob and I have traveled on the southeastern coast and up to New York with different bands and played around town enough to keep us away from the Losers fulltime, but it looks like we'll be able to work on some shows and more new songs this fall. We have 6 new tunes already and oh...about 2 and a half dozen more on the way! We are discussing a radio appearance with 102.9 FM here in Nashville which (I think) may happen in October, so that could be cool. Scott and I are also helping Bob record the musical examples to a rock mandolin instructional book that he is writing for Musicsales Publications. You didn't think we were just a bunch of slobs, did you? We've had some school! Not much, mind you, but we got the gist of it. Bob played this really cool little electric mandolin on the accompanying CD and it looks like a little Gibson Firebird. Sweet! The book should be available at most better music stores or online later this fall/winter. Scope it out if you dig mandolin slingin', fellers.

So! I guess that's it! Bob and I will do our best to get some shows happening around town and out n' about. I can't say which direction we're heading in the country at this point, but the sky is the limit. Won't you open your hearts when we roll into your town? It's what Ray Charles would've wanted! Now I believe I will go listen to Anthrax and drink beer. Hey! Ray would've wanted THAT too!

Takin' care of business. Everyday.

MAY 8, 2004

Cheers from Nashville USA once again and happy spring to all! It's gettin' HOT in Tennessee and we are sucking back beers as fast as we can. That's so's we'll have somethin' to spit our chew into, y'see. Yeehaw! We have some news of our activities the last few weeks so let's get to the most recent stuff first...

This past Monday we played at a big metal show at The 5 Spot in Nashville with our new buddies from Atlanta, the mighty Mastodon. What a show! We debuted a new song called 'Separate Lives' and sped through 8 other songs in just around 20 minutes. That's white lightnin' fast for you city folks! Mastodon destroyed as well and seemed really pleased with a new homebase to play at in Nashville. What a great band! Keep an eye out for their new album this summer and catch them on tour...ALL OVER THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD!

We also had a great time performing at the Kurt Cobain tribute in Nashville on April 6th. We played a speedy bluegrass instrumental called 'Fast Food' and then led into Nirvana's 'Even In His Youth' and finished with our songs 'Probe' and 'Lighter Than Air'. Everything sounded pretty darn good in the acoustic setting, gol durn it! After we played our set, I sat in with local punks dharmakaya and we played some of their songs, 'Territorial Pissings' by Nirvana, and a few other tunes including Husker Du's 'I'm Never Talking To You Again'. That was fun as heck! I played just a snare drum and brushes and had a good ol' time! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us make that a special night. Great music abounded.

Howzabout some CD news?! Okay, I got nothin' on our full-length CD yet. Nada nada nada, not a damn thing, as Q-Tip once declared. Sorry gang! What I DO know is that we should sit tight a bit longer until we figure out what O & O Records wants to do with us. The album WILL come out, we just have to be patient. Trust me, we're feeling antsy about this too! In the meanwhile, we are hoping to start talking to some other bands about hitting the road at length and it appears we will have some time this summer to schedule some shows and work on some new songs with Scott. He's got some downtime on the country circuit and we're gonna use it! As a side note, Scott and Bob have been producing an album for some local kids called The Handicaps at Scott's studio and that should be completed pretty soon. We'll most likely be doing some shows with these cats, so come on out and see us if you feel the itch in yo pants.

The two songs we completed for the Japanese compilation CD coming out this summer are now in the capable hands of our buddy Shin across the globe. We will be joined on this project by our fellow ALL fans Pseudo Heroes from Florida and The Unknown from Ohio, as well as several other cool bands from around the globe. You can check out Shin's website for more details and links to the other bands at: http://www.geocities.jp/recodds_recs/. This is a really great opportunity for us to get our sounds out around the world and we are really excited about it. I am quite happy with our cover of The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows', y'all! One take and we nailed it! We had some good vibes going for us that day and I hope everyone out there enjoys these new tunes. We seem to get our shit together very quickly in the studio and that will bode well for future recordings.

Hey, how 'bout this?! We have been getting some good radio airplay in Nashville on 102.9 The Buzz for our version of XTC's 'The Mayor of Simpleton' and our new song 'March'. Thanks for the support! It's amazing to hear how huge the recordings sound on the radio. I recommend the experience to anyone! Ha!

As I mentioned before, we are going to be working on some new material in the coming weeks and hopefully we'll get some shows lined up in between our other gigs. We've all been playing some country music around town and across the eastern US but we're chompin' at the bit to get some new Losers tunes happenin'! We have some live stuff we're considering mixing as well, some for mp3s for the website and also a concert the 3 of us played with our good friend Joshua Black Wilkins. That was a helluva gig! It was also the only time the whole trio has played as Josh's backing band and we had a great psychic link that night. I'll have details on that stuff down the road, but Bob and I are thinkin' we might just get a nice little live record out of that show. We're gonna work on it and see if there's any gold in them thar digital 0s and 1s. Hoowee! Tek-no-lah-lo-gee! Ain't it grand?

I hope everyone out there is keeping their cool and remembering to have some fun even as the world goes completely bonkers all around us. Take the time to enjoy your friends, chase some girls (or boys, if you are a lil cutie), and crank up some good loud rock. Have you checked out the new Descendents album yet? Well, YA SHOULD! There is a great article in the June issue of Modern Drummer magazine featuring their drummer and our producer, Bill Stevenson too. Dig it! Mike Watt is also on tour this spring, kids. Make a point to check out the man and shake his hand when he comes through your town. He's El Jefe of the bass, amigos! More news soon! Now go start a band already!

Drinkin' it up here, boss,

Mark

MARCH 27, 2004

Greetings again from Nashville USA, Earth people! Let's get to it, eh? We have some new sights and sounds up on the MEDIA page and our MERCH section is now ready to barter your hard-earned and/or stolen cash in exchange for some snappy Losers Beat Winners crap. Mother's Day will be upon us soon, gang. Why not avoid the shopping rush now and treat Mom to some deafening rock music captured on a plastic disk or perhaps a lovely new Losers t-shirt? It's HER special day!

I know what you're wondering now. "Mark, where is the stupid new CD you promised us? We can't carry on with our lives until we know the skinny. Please. Won't you complete us?" Well friends, to the best of my knowledge, production of our first full-length album is moving forward. We have sent our ideas for the cover art to the fine fellows at Owned & Operated Recordings, God love 'em, and hopefully we'll know some more about a release date soon. Can't wait for forever to finally arrive? Check out a live version of 'Probe' on our MEDIA page for a taste of the new album, champ. Yeah, it's loud.

Now wait a second! We haven't been totally lazy down here in Nashvegas, friends. Oh my, far from it! We resisted the temptation to continually blind ourselves with moonshine just long enough to spend a few hours last week recording and mixing two songs for a Japanese compilation featuring some other bands from around the world. We tracked our oldest 'new' song called 'March' and 'Tomorrow Never Knows' by The Beatles, complete with Bob's wild electric sitar pluckin'. You read it right, bubba, we done did us a Beatles tune! Yeehaw and grease up a pig! Why am I talking like this? *ahem* Okay, the CD should be ready this summer and we'll have some available in the MERCH section and at our shows before too long. Much respect to our friend Shinji Hosoki in Japan for inviting us to participate in this project. Arigato!

In show news, Scott has been busy touring the States with roots blues-country band The Tarbox Ramblers and rock-a-billy queen Rosie Flores. Keep an eye out for them in your town! Bob and I have been playing country music in various bands in Nashville's downtown honkytonk bars, among other adventures like recording and such. We'll get some more Losers Beat Winners shows lined up this summer as we approach releasing the CD and Bob and Scott get some breaks in the summer country music season. We DO have some cool events coming up though! On April 6th we'll be joining several Nashville punk and otherwise high volume-minded bands in an acoustic tribute to Kurt Cobain at the Radio Cafe' in Nashville. That's right, we'll be playing all polite and quiet-like, ya big babies! We'll do one Nirvana tune and a couple of our own in a stripped-down format. Hooboy, look out!

Hey, how 'bout this? I am excited to announce that we will be opening for my favorite new band of the last 3 years--Atlanta's mighty MASTODON on May 3rd at The 5 Spot in East Nashville! Those guys get bigger and better audiences every time they come to town so this show will most likely be HUGE. Hot damn! Come on down and witness the fury, whattayasay?

Spring is nearly upon us and my buddy's bar 6 blocks from here just added 4 new beer taps. Life is good, people! Who wants bar-b-que?

Sweating back here in the Batterie Department,

Mark

JANUARY 24, 2004

At long last, we are up and running! Welcome to our first stab at one of these crazy electronical informin' thingies for our stupidly loud little band. First, some quick answers to your no-doubt myriad of questions...

Yes! The record we are working on with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room is almost done! Mixing and mastering will hopefully be completed by the end of January and then we will talk about what the hell we want to do with it. HINT: we will be most likely be hitting the road as heavily as our schedules with our other bands will permit. As the machine starts gearing up, we will be able to go out more and you just know deep down in yer gullet that's what we really want, right? It's what's best for you too! So dig it, there is a better-than-good chance you will see us in your town in the next year. Bring your earplugs! We'll bring some extras just in case you forget. Seriously. You'll be glad we do. It's like, really loud.

Okay, we're also working on some new tunes and kicking around the idea of recording some of them at Scott's studio (2 Tapedecks and A Microphone, Nashville 615-500-8215). If we can work it in between some shows we'll get it goin'. In the meantime, take a look around and feel free to send us a note if you have any comments or drunken boasts you'd like to ramble on endlessly about. We can totally act interested in your spiel as well as mock it and we expect the same from you, THE ROCK FAN! Everybody wins! We'll get some links up for the t-shirts and CDs and other happy crap soon (send us a note. We have some stuff lying around our massive warehouse right now!) The t-shirts are pretty nice and seem to repel most of bodily fluids we've sprayed on 'em fairly well. *NOTE: Band is not responsible for irremovable stains and/or odors. Band assures it will wear each shirt a maximum of one(1) time only before sale*

Before I go, I'd like to extend a big thanks to our growing family of friends and fans, especially Jeff Hagedorn of Owned and Operated Recordings/ALLcentral, our forever 4th member/sometimes soundguy/endless comic relief Matt Davis. Jerk. Hey, see you at Mom's! Look for more updates and pointless ephemera as we find the overwhelming itch to post it and hey-- y'all are welcome in Nashville any time.

HOCUS POCUS DOMINOCUS!

Mark
